Notice the colder air building for Sunday in the western Upper Peninsula. This will be the Arctic cold that invades lower Michigan Sunday night and Monday. It looks like the weekend won’t have terrible road conditions, but also not perfectly dry road conditions. We can also consider this weekend “balmy” compared to what is coming next week.
The first system of the weekend arrives Friday night through early Saturday. This is on the leading edge of an arctic front, so it's still mild outside when the moisture first arrives. Later overnight, temperatures in the mountains drop into the 30s, which should bring a brief changeover into some wet bursts of snow.
A dramatic shift in the weather pattern will bring dangerously cold temperatures to the Lowcountry on Friday, followed by the possibility of winter weather moving in by Sunday.
