Fox Pounce! In winter, red foxes, along with coyotes and great gray owls hunt prey hidden under the snow using their superior hearing. Many rodents are active in the subnivien layer, an air pocket right at the snow and ground interface which insulates them from the cold. Danger lurks from above though, many an unsuspecting rodent has met its demise from keen eared predators!
