Johnson Shut-Ins State Park is one of the few Missouri campgrounds that keeps a shower house open all year, which makes it a perfect spot from November through March when most places shut everything down. When the Ameren reservoir breach destroyed the original campground in 2005, the entire area had to be rebuilt.
