LOOK: Time-lapse footage of a minor phreatomagmatic eruption at Taal Volcano’s Main Crater between 07:11 PM to 07:15 PM this evening, 09 January 2026. This event generated a 900-meter plume that drifted southwest, as captured by the thermal camera of the Daang Kastila Observation Station (VTDK) on the northern rim of the Main Crater. A precursory signal preceded the event by almost six minutes as recorded by the Calauit Observation Station (VTCT) on the southeastern Volcano Island. Alert Level 1

MINOR PHREATOMAGMATIC ERUPTION AT THE TAAL MAIN CRATER Time-lapse footage shows a minor phreatomagmatic eruption at Taal Main Crater at 4:36 PM today, Dec. 26, 2025, consisting of four pulses and lasting about two minutes, based on seismic and camera records. The event produced short, dark ash jets that collapsed into the Main Crater Lake, as well as light gray to whitish plumes that rose 600 meters above the crater before drifting southwest.
